I want to start by differentiating a standard stethoscope and a cardiology stethoscope.
A standard stethoscope or a regular/classic stethoscope has got what we call a Y-frame. Where the binaurals meet the tubing it forms what looks like the letter "Y".
When sound travels from the chest piece up into the binaural, there is one channel where sound travels and then breaks off into both of your ears, and that's what we call a single lumen tubing.
A cardiology stethoscope has an A-frame, which is like an upside-down A.
It has got dual lumen tubing. That means when the sound travels from the chest piece until the end of the tubing, we got two channels inside the tube. The one channel goes to your right ear, and the other channel goes to your left ear.
It allows for better sound transmission and less interference from extraneous noise or brushing up on the tubing. It does make for better acoustics, but it also makes the stethoscope quite cumbersome and heavy around your neck. It is also a lot more expensive than your regular Y-frame stethoscope.
If your passion is cardiology, and you know in your heart that you will only work in cardiology when you finish nursing school, by all means, then buy cardiology stethoscope and learn on that if you have the money to do so. However, in my opinion, if you're a nursing student and you're starting out and learning, you will be just fine with a regular standard stethoscope.
So I know I've told you that you don't need to buy the most expensive stethoscope out there, but that doesn't mean you can buy any cheap one either, which will affect the quality of the stethoscope. So if you want a good quality, my advice is to buy from reputable sellers, brands that you know and look at the reviews, and see what they say, and then you can make your decision.
A lot of the regular stethoscopes have a turnable chest piece to decide which side is going to be activated. You have an adult diaphragm that you can use for adults, and you have your pediatric side that you use for pediatrics.
Please also note that there is some standard stethoscope that comes with an open bell, but it doesn't have the option to turn it into a pediatric side, so it doesn't come with a pediatric diaphragm.
One other thing to consider when buying a stethoscope is the weight of the stethoscope. I like my stethoscope to be light because I wear it around my neck all day. I also consider the length of the tubing because I don't want to strain my back when using it. Another thing I hate is sticky tubing, so when you wear it around your neck, it gets caught in your neck hair, so I like smooth tubing, and that glides over your neck, and you can't tell that it's even sitting there.
Another important thing is your ear tips. Consider not to buy hard ear tips because they hurt your ears, and they don't create a good seal. But the soft ones are comfortable in your ear and creates a good seal, and even better if the stethoscope comes with different sized ear tips because you can choose what suits your ear canals best and create that good seal.
This is the Bjorn Hall Stockholm Series Stethoscope. Disclaimer, I've created this myself, so it got all the specifications that I like, and it's a perfect all-rounder, in my opinion.
We've got the MDF 777 standard stethoscope.
They've also got a cardiology stethoscope in their range as well.
We've got the Welch Allyn Adult Professional. This is their standard stethoscope. Be mindful because they have a hard ear tip, so it's something that you should research before you buy.
They also have a cardiology stethoscope which is called the Welsh Allyn Harvey DLX.
Let's go to the Littmann Brand.
This is the Littmann Classic III.
They also have Littmann Cardiology IV.
They also have the Littmann Lightweight II S.E, and this is the lightest stethoscopes that I've tried and considering it is made of some plastic, it got excellent acoustics and has a pretty good price range. But be mindful, the open bell does not turn into a pediatric bell, so you can't use it in pediatrics.
Then we've got ADC Ad Scope 608.
Watch: What is the best stethoscope for Nursing Students?
Thank you so much, and congratulations if you've just gotten accepted into nursing school.
I will see you on my next blog, and remember, as always,

Hej Hej, Nurse Jenny here!

If you are still wondering which is the best stethoscope to buy, worry no more because I have tried a lot of them for you! Here at Nurse Jenny Blog, I make stethoscope reviews, comparisons, and unboxings and I also make Nursing tutorials, hacks, and talk about my Nursing life in general. So stay tuned for my next blogs!

Today, I am proud and happy to introduce to you my BJorn Hall Rose Gold Fob Watch & Wristwatch. Now you can customize your scrubs a bit more and bring your personality to the floor. Yay!
It comes presented in a beautiful box and it’s a PERFECT GIFT for a Nurse!
A Fob Watch is an essential tool for Nurses as such that we don’t want to wear anything on our wrists, right? We wash our hands all the time and not just our hands but also our wrists and our hands so having a watch there can collect a lot of germs which you don’t want. So having a Fob Watch on your scrubs is PERFECT!
The straps are made out of genuine leather and you have a creative little option of engraving your name if you wish to do so. The feature of being able to engrave your name makes it such a perfect gift for any Nurse or Healthcare Professional in your life!
I’ve also made sure to add-in a seconds hand counter so when you do your counting of heart rates and respiration, it is right there and you can count it as you go.
I’ve also designed it to look appealing and really pleasing on the eye so with the combination of the Rose Gold and White in the features inside the watch, it just looks AMAZING wearing it at work on your scrubs or on your wrist when you’re out of the town with the girls!
You might have these questions on your mind
HOW TO CHANGE YOUR BJORN HALL FOB WATCH STRAPS?
If you want to turn your Fob Watch into a Wristwatch or vice versa, it is simple as ABC! Have a look at the back of the watch. There’s a little metal lever there on the strap closest to the watch.
Here are the step by step guide for changing the Watch Straps

Here is an age-old question I get asked by students and nursing professionals
If you’ve read a lot of my stethoscope reviews and you’re still a bit confused about which branded stethoscope to buy, here’s a little more help about the Littmann Classic III vs Littmann Cardiology IV.
Let’s break it down!
Looking at Littmann Cardiology IV Stethoscopes, it is a cardiology stethoscope which means it got a dual lumen tubing.
What exactly does dual-lumen mean?
At first, I didn’t know that either. So when I first started my research, I actually bought a Littman Cardiology IV and I cut it in half.
Basically a dual-lumen stethoscope means that there is a channel in the middle of the stethoscope, and it divides the tube in two lumens. So one channel goes directly to your right ear, and the other channel goes directly to your left ear. What it does is it allows for less interference with rubbing noises.
Looking at Littmann Cardiology IV, it has an A-Frame compared to the regular stethoscope which has a Y-Frame. The cardiology IV is also thicker and shorter in the tubing to minimize sound interference from travelling from the chest piece to the binaural.
Now let’s review Littman Classic III Stethoscope.
Littmann Classic III has a single-lumen tubing which means it doesn’t have a divider in the middle which the dual-lumen tubing has. It can also do all of the things that you would use a stethoscope for like listening to heart sounds, bowel sounds, lung sounds and do manual blood pressure with it as well.
So here’s the question
It will depend now on your personal preference and how much money you want to spend. Both Classic III and Cardiology IV are good and essentially Classic III can do what the Cardiology IV can do and vice versa.
In terms of Price, at the time of writing, the Cardiology IV costs $200 and the Classic III costs $100. So think about that when you’re thinking to buy a stethoscope. If you are a First Year Nursing student and you had just started learning how to use stethoscope, do you really need to buy a $200 stethoscope? Probably not!
In terms of weight and length, it will also matter on your personal preference. I wear my stethoscope around my neck all day so I like it lightweight and I also like a longer tubing as it will be easier for me to assess my patients.
Consider all the features of the stethoscope, the price and what stage in nursing career you are at and then that makes the decision between the Littmann Cardiology IV and Littmann Classic III a little bit easier for you.
But before you make a decision just yet, it would be fantastic if you take a look at some of the Bjorn Stethoscope testimonials. This is the stethoscope I am using right now for work and it has everything I have laid out here, and more.
There you have it! I hope you have now a clearer idea between the Littmann Classic III and Littmann Cardiology IV and if you are still confused about what to buy, I have a lot of other reviews about different stethoscopes that might help you.
As always, listen with your heart

Today, I'll show you how to put on these beautiful stethoscope accessories, how to wear them, and how to clean them.
Put your charm on sisters! No, I mean literally put your charms on -- these Björn Hall Stethoscope Charms!
Remove the stethoscope chest piece from the tubing by gently pulling it off. Don’t worry this won’t damage your stethoscopes at all.
The end part of the tubing is slightly thicker than the rest due to the chest piece connector so this will be the most challenging part in putting the Charm Rings on. Use a push and twist motion to insert the Charm Ring or have an option to use a little antibacterial gel on the tube to slide the Stethoscope Charm Ring easier.
To put back the chest piece to the stethoscope, lay the stethoscope on a flat surface before inserting the chest piece back on so when you wear it back it faces the right direction.
1. On the chest piece side
2. On the binaural side.
This one is my preferred side by the way because it balances out the weight of the stethoscope chest piece when it tries to unbalance and slide off.
You can clean the whole stethoscope tubing with the Charm Ring on it with whatever brand of wipes that your hospital uses. You can also remove the Charm Ring from the stethoscope and thoroughly disinfect it with a sanitizing gel by rubbing it with your palms, covering all surfaces, and setting it aside to dry.
Leave a little sparkle wherever you go, sprinkle it around, and watch it grow.
May this stethoscope charm with its glow, let your next shift be part of the sparkling show.

Today I'll be introducing to you guys a new Björn Hall product. Our Stethoscope case will be having a big sister! We are happy to announce the Björn Hall Cardiology Stethoscope Cases which are bigger and wider, to accommodate longer stethoscopes such as cardiology stethoscopes. Here's what you need to know!
The Björn Hall Cardiology Stethoscope Case comes with the classic Björn Hall box, plain white with a blue band. Upon opening, there will be a small thank you note from me, and the stethoscope case inside will be beautifully wrapped with a Bjorn Hall tissue paper for protection.
The Cardiology Stethoscope has a beautiful outer PU leather which is not only durable for wear and tear but is also easy to wipe clean. The lining inside the case is made up of Flannel which is soft and smooth enough to prevent micro-scratches on your stethoscope parts.
There are three strong hidden magnets for closure which not only make the classy design of our stethoscope cases stand out but also make it easier for you to access your things when you need them, without the need to fumble with locks or get a stuck zipper.
The stitching on our stethoscope cases went under strict quality control so you get top-notch quality in overall workmanship.
The Björn Hall Cardiology Stethoscope Case is bigger and wider. This is specially made to make more space for Cardiology Stethoscopes. Here's a visual comparison between a regular stethoscope and a cardiology stethoscope.
The difference between the two stethoscopes is the Y-frame vs the A-frame. The Cardiology Stethoscope Cases can accommodate the longer A-frame of cardiology stethoscopes more and even have extra space for some of your daily nursing tools and things.
The dimensions of the Cardiology Stethoscope Case is 6.10in / 15.5cm in height, 13in / 32cm in length and 2.3in / 6cm in width.
These cases are available in 5 different colors so pick your favorites. These are the best gifts you can give to that special healthcare professional in your life!

Today, I am happy to share with you the newest family members of Björn Hall products!
We have four designs to choose from, two of them are floral and the other two color black. All of them are reversible, the attached buttons are reinforced and they are sewed with a quality finish.
These headbands with buttons are not only beautiful and fashionable on their own but they are also born out of necessity. As we come into an era of protective face shields and face masks, I realized how difficult it is to wear face masks, all day, every single day. It is really painful, as you may know. So I figured, why not try to make this face mask problem work out, while also looking fab?!
At the moment we have four available designs. The black headbands are more male-friendly and there are two variants for it.
This variant will come with a headband and a matching black mask. It also has two strong buttons on either side, but this variant is entirely plain and has no logo at the back.
Here’s an actual video on how to wear the headband:

]]>Hello everyone!
Here is the age-old question
If you’ve read a lot of my stethoscope reviews and you’re still a bit confused about which branded stethoscope to buy, here’s a little more help about the Littmann Classic III vs Littmann Cardiology IV.
When René Laennec invented the stethoscope in 1816 by carving it on wood, he probably never thought the stethoscope would evolve into such sophisticated assessment tools. And to help you narrow it down, I’ve laid it all for you in a table below and I hope by the end of this blog, you are ready to make a decision.
Before we dive in, here are some things you might want to ask yourself:
How much money are you willing to spend?
At what stage are you in your Nursing journey?
What kind of Nursing do you do?
Do you wear it around your neck all day?

Let’s break it down!
I paid 100 USD for Littmann Classic III and 180 USD for Littmann Cardiology IV. What does the additional 80 USD for the Cardiology IV get you? Well, it will get you a double-lumen tubing and a different set of Spare kit. You will also get an additional year of warranty.
The Littmann Classic III weighs 158 grams while the Littmann Cardiology IV weighs 171 grams. 158 grams, for the Littmann Classic III, is as heavy as one billiard ball. Yes. And though 13 grams doesn’t seem a lot, actually, 13 grams is as heavy as a AAA Battery.
So just imagine all that additional weight you have to put on your neck. If you are fond of wearing your stethoscope around your neck all day, you are definitely going to feel it at the end of your shift.
The short answer is yes. Littmann Cardiology IV does sound better.
In my Littmann Cardiology IV review, I have literally cut the tube in half (ouch, yes). And the reason why it sounds better than the Classic III is that it has a double-lumen tube which means one tube goes directly to the left ear and the other tube goes directly to the right. It removes the excess noise and rubbing sounds. There are other differences too, so you might want to check out my individual review for the Littmann Cardiology IV to know more about it
I don’t think the 2 cm difference would matter at all. If you put them side by side, as I did in the video, the difference was not really obvious. I would still want the Littmann stethoscopes to be actually a bit longer to avoid too much bending.
If you’re like me and wish that the available stethoscopes in the market should have longer tubes to prevent additional back strain, then you might want to also check out Bjorn Stethoscopes. These are the ones I use at work and they are the perfect length for me.
Before I continue, you might wonder
Well, I have bought and reviewed a lot of stethoscopes but they are not at home collecting dust. I do run monthly giveaways, so if you're interested and would like to join, check out my website for the giveaway of the month.
Let's continue!
The tubing feel of both stethoscopes feels the same, really.
They are a bit sticky to the neck and they snag and pull the little hairs at the back of your neck. They are a bit uncomfortable, to be honest.
The Littmann Classic III has a spare kit that includes: a small soft ear tip, a non-chill rim and the manual booklet. Though I love the soft ear tips that come with the Littmann stethoscopes, it still would have been great if the ear tips come in three sizes.
With the Littmann Cardiology IV, the spare kit is essentially the same, the only difference is that it has an additional hard ear tip included inside. If you prefer hard ear tips over the soft one then the Cardiology IV is for you.
An extra warranty is still an extra warranty. You’ll never know what could happen with your beloved stethoscope in an entire year of your fast-faced world. The additional year covers the material defects that occur during the warranty period, except in the cases of obvious abuse or accidental damage.
Littmann Classic III: 39/50 Stars
Littmann Cardiology IV: 40/50 Stars
If you’re wondering how I came up with those star ratings, here are the individual in-depth reviews for Littmann Classic III and Littmann Cardiology IV.
At this point you are starting to love both stethoscopes. I can’t blame you, they are both great. But to really get to that decision, you have to identify what stage you are in your nursing journey.
If you’re a student who just wants to have a reliable stethoscope, then the short answer is no. You don’t really need to shell out 180 USD for the Littmann Cardiology IV at the moment. The Littmann Classic III will suit you fine as it is still a fantastic stethoscope on its own.
If on the other hand, you are a seasoned Nurse, working in a specialized area or you are a Cardiology Nurse already, then a Littmann Cardiology IV would be a good investment for your career as it is intentionally made to have the best acoustics when it comes to Littmann stethoscopes as it has a double-lumen tube which means there are less scratching and rubbing noises that might interfere with your patients’ critical assessments.
But before you make a decision just yet, It would be fantastic if you take a look at some of the Bjorn Stethoscope testimonials. This is the stethoscope I am using right now for work and it has everything I have laid out here, and more.
Well, there you have it!
You can now have a well-informed decision on your stethoscope journey. I hope I have given you useful insights into these wonderful stethoscopes and if you have any more questions about them or if you want me to review a particular stethoscope, please don’t hesitate to drop me a line.
Write your comments below on which stethoscope you finally chose and why.

]]>Not all stethoscopes are made the same - that’s a simple fact. And it’s not even about the branding. It’s the small qualities you might overlook when buying one. You might even wonder if the price of the stethoscope is worth it at all. Well, wonder no more!
Here is a comprehensive review for Littmann Classic III from somebody who actually uses it every day.
The Littmann Classic III was the first Littmann I ever had. Mine was dark green and not much to look at but boy did I love it!
When it was eventually stolen (to this day I think it was a Doctor! I will find you and I will kill you, jokes!) I was devastated.
I really think this stethoscope is a great all-rounder. Suitable for the student Nurse but also the seasoned Nurse. I know it’s hard to buy stethoscopes online so this is my personal honest review of the Littmann Classic III Stethoscope, this time in Raspberry Rainbow Color. I hope you will enjoy it and that it may help you in your search for a new stethoscope.
Enter to win a free Stethoscope!
A stethoscope is a tool for listening so this is probably the most important thing to look at when buying one.
I have personally used The Littmann Classic III at work and the acoustic is really good, loud and crisp.
While most Littmann Cardiology Stethoscopes have double lumen tubing, which is the gold standard when it comes to stethoscope acoustics, the Littmann Classic III, even with just a single lumen, is not far behind with just minimal rubbing noises. With that being said, if you are debating between the two, you won’t be sacrificing the quality of the sound if you choose the Littmann Classic III.
And for that reason, I've given it a 4/5 Stars.
Now, in all fairness to all Littmann stethoscopes, all of their products have really good quality rubber ear tips. There are other parts of a stethoscope and their different uses, but for the Littmann Classic III ear tips, I’d say that they have perfected its purpose.
They are soft enough not to hurt your ears, even from prolonged wearing, but still firm enough to create a really good seal.
Now, everyone has a different set of ears so I will also review the sizes of the ear tips available to Littmann Classic III more below.
For ear tip comfort though, thumbs up! 5/5 Stars.
The Littmann Classic III weighs 158 grams or 5.5 ounces. To put that in perspective, that is just as heavy as an apple! And for a stethoscope, that’s an acceptable weight.
If you’re like me, you probably wear your stethoscope around your neck all day, and at the end of the day, you can kind of feel it sitting there on your neck. The weight is quite good though and it won’t strain your neck even if it hangs on you the whole shift.
Another thing that bothers me about stethoscopes is that they have a tendency to slide off you, especially when you are out and about leaning down or reaching up. The Littmann Classic III doesn’t do that. The chest piece is not too heavy for the binaural so it has a nice balance on your neck. And if you’re also like me, and you’re protective of your stethoscope you can check out these stylish stethoscope cases from Bjorn Hall.
For sitting quite nicely when not in use, I’ve given in a 4/5 Stars.
At the time of writing, the Littmann Classic III was bought for a $100 USD and that price for a stethoscope is a really good value for money, considering all the stars it garnered for this review and that you will also get a nice Raspberry-colored tubing and the rainbow finish.
So for the price, I’ve given it 4/5 Stars.
Before I continue, you might wonder
Well, I have bought and reviewed a lot of stethoscopes but they are not at home collecting dust. I do run monthly giveaways, so if if you're interested and would like to join, check out my website for the giveaway of the month.
Let's continue!
The Littmann Classic III stethoscope is 71 cm long or 37 inches. It’s an acceptable length for a stethoscope but to be honest, I would like it to be a little longer. I would love it if I don’t have to crouch at all.
It still depends on you and is not a deal-breaker though.
For the good length of the tubing, I give it a 4/5 Stars.
For a person who doesn’t go through a lot of stethoscopes, the Littmann Classic III’s tubing would feel fine enough. But for me, I have reviewed other stethoscopes and their tubings have a quite different feel.
One thing’s the same with all these tubings though, it will eventually get soiled and you have to clean your stethoscopes properly.
Other stethoscopes feel nice and soft compared to Littmann Classics III’s smooth but a little sticky texture. It gets stuck in the neck a little bit and has a little snag.
You won’t notice the difference if you’ve never had a better stethoscope.
But since I’ve tried better, and I’ve tried a lot, for the tubing feel I give it 3.5/5 Stars.
The Littmann Classic III’s Raspberry Rainbow aesthetics looks really pleasing to the eyes.
The chest piece has a really cool rainbow finish and the tubing has a beautiful deep burgundy color. It is really stylish and pretty.
The state of the stethoscope when I bought it was immaculate. No scratches, dirt or fingerprints marks. It was really a big plus for me and it says a lot about manufacturing.
The chest piece is turnable which is very important, and something I always look for when buying a stethoscope. It comes with both a diaphragm on the pediatric side and the adult side. Which you can also transform the pediatric side into an open bell if you want to.
The ear tips are pull-off and push-on type, unlike some stethoscope that you screw on the ear tips. I personally like the Littmann Classic III’s style because they are the screw on’s usually screw off on itself and you lose then at work. The ear tips are snuggly fit and cannot be removed easily. You have to put a bit of force on it so that is really good.
It’s has a really good and thought-of design so I give it a 5/5 Stars.
Aside from the manual inside the box, the Littmann Classic III also comes with a spare set of smaller ear tips, which is a nice consideration. They have the same quality and feel of the ear tips that are already attached to the stethoscope so it is also commendable.
It also comes with a non-chill rim that you can put on the pediatric side of the bell if you want to turn it into an open bell instead.
I give the spare kit a 2/5 Stars.
The Littmann Classic III has a five-year warranty which means if a material or manufacturing defect occurs during the warranty period, it can get repaired free of charge, except in the cases of obvious abuse or accidental damage.
For that, I give it a 4/5 Stars.
When I received the stethoscope in its box, the label had read “Caribbean Blue Tube” and I thought that they had sent me the wrong color. When I opened it though, they have indeed sent the right one which is the Raspberry Rainbow color, so it was all good.
It has a black foam inside the box that holds everything in place, the stethoscope, the spare kits, and the manual.
If you would like to see this stethoscope fresh from the box, check out my Littmann Classic III Unboxing Video.
The buying obviously experience doesn’t change the functionality of the stethoscope, but for the purpose of a full review, I would like to include it for you to also know what to expect when you receive your product.
For the overall buying experience, I’ll give it a 3.5/5 Stars.
2. Eartip Comfort: 5 Stars
3. Weight: 4 Stars
4. Price: 4 Stars
5. Tubing Length: 4 Stars
6. Tubing Feel: 3.5 Stars
7. Stethoscope Design: 5 Stars
8. Spare Kit: 2 Stars
9. Warranty: 4 Stars
10. Buying Experience: 3.5 Stars
It is a good score, but what faults it, is the spare kit and the buying experience.
The ear-tip attached to the stethoscope is medium, and the spare kit comes with an extra ear tip that is smaller in size.
It would have been nicer if the spare kit includes three different sizes of ear tips since everyone’s ear is different.
When it comes to the diaphragm, they also have a tendency to fall off sometimes and go missing, so I would have liked to see an extra set of those as well in the spare kit. Much better if they have customized stethoscope diaphragms.
The acoustics and the design were marvelous though, and the ear tips are the best out there so I really love this stethoscope and I would be proud to wear it around my neck at work.
I recommend this stethoscope to anyone who works in health care, be it a student Nurse, a seasoned Nurse or even a Cardiology Nurse if they didn’t want to invest in an expensive cardiology stethoscope, this one would do just as well.
It’s also perfect for CNAs, Veterinarians or Psychotherapists. Anyone could use this and with great acoustics, it would do well.
I hope you have now a clearer idea of the Littmann Classic III and if you are still confused about what to buy, I have a lot of other reviews about different stethoscopes that might help you.

Today I will have a quick blog, introducing the new Björn Hall RN diaphragm. I am proud to have made this for you because you will seldom see a stethoscope brand that also offers personalized diaphragms. And being a Nurse, my first personalized diaphragm is made for us Nurses, be proud, and show your title!
In our field, most of the time, we have no control over our uniforms. We have to wear the ergonomic scrubs, we have to wear the ugly comfortable shoes, we cannot accessorize for patients’ safety, and sometimes, depending on the hospital, we can’t have visible body modifications. All these things that can show our personality are under strict control, and for good reasons, so I made my Björn Hall products, not only high-quality and functional but also stylish.
A set includes one Adult Diaphragm and one Pediatric Diaphragm attached to their outer plastic rims. They are placed on a beautiful white box, perfect as gifts to Nurses. I will also drop the link on how to change them! Easy as 1,2,3.
This customized RN Diaphragm is going to be the start of something beautiful from the Björn Hall Designer Series.

Hey Hey guys, Nurse Jenny here!

Before we begin, I would like to congratulate you on choosing our Bjorn Hall stethoscope. This designer stethoscope is fashionable, lightweight, and carefully crafted by a nurse (that’s me!) with you, my fellow nurses in mind. Our Bjorn Hall Stethoscope has been featured as one of the best stethoscopes in 2020, up there with ADC Adscope and Littmann Stethoscope. This top-quality stethoscope will last you for a long time!
Today, I am going to teach you how to change the diaphragms of your Bjorn Hall stethoscopes to your new RN designed diaphragm. I am sure you are very excited to show off your personalized stethoscopes and are proud to carry that Registered Nurse title.
Let’s begin!
I don’t want you losing your diaphragms so made them snug and fit. It’s not easily removed accidentally, but it is possible to remove and put back on in three steps and a bit effort.
If the diaphragm detaches from the plastic rim, don’t worry. It is supposed to do that and it can be put back together with no problem.
You can place these diaphragms whichever way you want but the optimum position for these is shown below:
While holding the stethoscope tubing, the RN diaphragm should be upside down.
Keep in mind that when you hang your stethoscope on your neck, the Adult diaphragm side would be facing away from you, so the RN should be upright while in this position to be read properly.
The pediatric diaphragm on the other hand, should be positioned upright while holding the stethoscope tubing. The reason for this is because when you are holding the adult diaphragm against your patient, the pediatric side will be facing you, therefore it will be read upright on that position.
Once you’ve decided which way your new RN-designed special diaphragms should go putting it back on is easy.
It is a little tricky, I tell you, but I made them tight on purpose so a little effort will go a long way. Especially with putting back on the pediatric diaphragm because they are smaller and less flexible than the adult diaphragms. I have tips for you though, on how to make it easier!
And there you go!
Watch here how I managed to replace my diaphragm:

Today, let me introduce you to the newest member of the Bjorn Hall family -- the Bjorn Hall Matte Black Stethoscope. This stethoscope has a black matte tubing, a smooth clinical grade stainless-steel black diaphragm, and a black aluminum binaurals.
At only 5.1oz or 146g it is the lightest stethoscope in the market. It is even lighter compared to the 5.6oz or 160g of the Littmann Classic III. This is perfect for nurses like me who like to carry their stethoscope around their neck. It’s super lightweight, you wouldn’t even feel it’s there.
Each stethoscope has a double-sided chestpiece that can be used for adult and pediatric assessments. Having tight-sealed diaphragms that prevent the escape of sound, the high and low-pitched sounds are clearly auditory, loud, and crisp.
The soft eartips are made from high-quality silicone that won’t crumble or split. It has an acoustically-sealed ear canal fit that allows for better hearing, canceling most outside noises during use.
The Björn Hall Black Matte Stethoscope’s binaurals are movable to custom fit the wearer. It can be adjusted according to the angle of your ear canal. It has a good spring tension so you can pull them apart to loosen or push them together to tighten and they will retain their shape.
It is 29in or 75cm long, perfect length to do assessments without straining your back from bending too much and it’s not too long to be touching your arms or the patient’s clothes or linen.
This is personally, one of my pet peeves. I don’t like the feel of sticky tubing around my neck. The Björn Hall Black Matte Stethoscope feels smooth and soft on the skin so it won’t stick on you and won’t snag your small hairs.
Aside from the eartips attached to the stethoscope, there is an additional of three different sizes of eartips on the spare kit. Yes! Aside from that, there’s an extra adult diaphragm, extra pediatric diaphragm, and extra non-chill rim if you want to convert your pediatric side to an open-bell. And, there’s more, all of these are safely kept inside a classy mini-pouch that you can keep inside your locker, your bag, or at home.

I bought the MDF MD One for 99 USD while I bought the MDF Classic Cardiology was 125 USD. It’s a big difference in price between the two but it is a justified difference. Let’s find out more about what they have to offer.
The MDF MD One weighs 190g or 6.7oz while the MDF Classic Cardiology weighs 270g or 9.5oz. Personally, both stethoscope is too heavy for my liking. I like hanging my stethoscope on my neck with these stethoscopes, at the end of my shift, I can feel them on me. This is especially true with the MDF Classic Cardiology because of the big stainless steel diaphragm and binaurals. If you don’t usually hang your stethoscope around your neck then the weight of these stethoscopes won’t bother you.
When it comes to acoustics, the MDF MD One and MDF Classic Cardiology both have good, loud and clear acoustics. But the MDF Classic Cardiology is inarguably much better than the MD One and this is due to the fact that it is a specialized stethoscope that has dual-lumen tubing.
The MDF MD One is 78cm or 31in long, while the MDF Classic Cardiology is 75cm or 29in long. I like the length of the MDF Classic Cardiology and for me, this is the perfect length for a stethoscope. I am not bending much and it is not too long, as the MDF MD One. The MDF MD One’s tubing just flaps around as I use it. It brushes on the patient, the beddings or my arms so I’m not really a fan of its length. This one is up to you if you prefer long or short stethoscope tubings
Both the MDF MD One and the MDF Classic Cardiology got a low score for the Tubing Feel. The reason for this is because both of their tubings feel a little sticky. They stick to my skin and to the little hairs on the back of my neck. The MDF MD One’s tubing is flexible though, I give it that, compared to the stiff tubing of the MDF Classic Cardiology. In my detailed review, I gave the MDF MD One 2 out of 5 Stars and the MDF Classic Cardiology a 2.5 out of 5 Stars.
The MDF MD One and MDF Classic Cardiology have the same spare kit inclusions which are:
2 Sizes Ear Tips (Small and Large), Plastic Diaghpragm, Nametag, User Manual.
Both the MDF MD One and MDF Classic Cardiology have the same warranty which is free parts for life, which I personally love.
In my detailed review for the stethoscopes, the MDF MD One got a 31.5 out of 50 stars and the MDF Classic Cardiology got a 38 out of 50 stars. In my detailed reviews I rate them under 10 aspects and give them a score out of five in each aspect; so by the end, they can have the highest score of 50 stars.

I hope you have decided which one of these MDF stethoscopes will be more useful for you. If you have any questions regarding them or if you have any suggestions for my next stethoscope review, feel free to drop them below in the comment box.

I bought the MDF Classic Cardiology Stethoscope for 125 USD while I bought the Littmann Cardiology IV Stethoscope for 180 USD. That’s a big difference between the two, so let’s find out more which of the two has more value for money.
The MDF Classic Cardiology weighs 270g or 9.5oz while the Littmann Cardiology IV weighs 171g or 6oz. Personally, the additional 99g weight of the MDF Classic Cardiology is way too much for me as this is the heaviest stethoscope I had ever reviewed.
Both stethoscopes got a perfect score of 5 out of 5. They are both cardiology and dual-lumen stethoscopes so their acoustics are loud and clear and just impeccable.
The MDF Classic Cardiology Stethoscope is 75cm or 29in long while the Littmann Cardiology IV Stethoscope is 69cm or 27in long. Personally I wanted the Littmann Cardiology to be a bit longer so the length of the MDF Classic Cardiology for me was just perfect.
Before I continue, you might wonder
Well, I have bought a lot of stethoscopes for all my Stethoscope Reviews but they are not at home collecting dust. I do run monthly giveaways, so if you're interested and would like to join, check out my website for the free monthly giveaways.
Let's continue!
I gave the MDF Classic Cardiology Stethoscope a 2.5 out of 5 stars while I gave the Littmann Cardiology IV a 3.5 out of 5 Stars. Both of the tubings’ textures are the same. The only difference between the two is that the MDF Classic Cardiology is more rigid.
The MDF Classic Cardiology’s spare kit includes the Small Ear Tips, Large Ear Tips, Spare Diaphragm, Nametag, and User Manual while the Littmann Cardiology Stethoscope’s spare kit includes Small Soft Ear tips, Hard Ear tips, Non-Chill Rim, and User Manual. They both have good inclusions and I am happy with them.
The MDF Classic Cardiology’s manufacturer warranty is free for life and if you lose parts of your stethoscope you could have free parts for life as well. On the other hand, the Littmann Cardiology IV’s manufacturer’s warranty is 7 years. I love the MDF’s warranty, enough said.
In my detailed review of the stethoscopes, MDF Classic Cardiology received a 38 out of 50 Stars while the Littmann Cardiology IV received 40/50 Stars.

For today’s blog, we are going to be having a stethoscope review where I will share with you my detailed review of a stethoscope so by the end of this blog, you can have an informed choice.
As usual, I'm gonna be reviewing 10 aspects and give it a score out of five in each aspect; so by the end, I'm gonna have a score out of 50.
Our stethoscope for today is the MDF Classic Cardiology Rose Gold Stethoscope.
I have several reviews comparing it to other Stethoscopes side by side so you can check them out and I will drop the links at the end of this blog.
Let’s begin!
The MDF Classic Cardiology is a cardiology stethoscope after all so it has a dual-lumen tubing. That means the sound is impeccable. The acoustic is loud and clear. There are no rubbing sounds or external noises from the tubing.
For that, I give it a perfect score of 5/5 Stars.
The ear tips of the MDF Classic Cardiology Rose Gold Stethoscope are soft. Actually it is a little too soft for me. I would prefer it to be a little more firmer so it won’t feel too flimsy and to have a better seal inside my ear.
I gave it a score of 4/5 Stars.
The MDF Classic Cardiology Rose Gold Stethoscope weighs 270 grams or 9.5 ounces. Personally, that is way too heavy for me. I like to hang my stethoscope on my neck and after a while, you would really feel this stethoscope sitting on you and after the shift it does strain a little bit. It’s understandable though since the stethoscope chestpeice is and binaurals are large and made of stainless steel and the tubes a little bit thicker, but this is the heaviest stethoscope I have ever reviewed so for it is a little bit off-putting for me. If you don’t bring your stethoscope around all the time, or you just put it on your table then this will not be a problem for you.
If you prefer to bring your stethoscope on a bag, it is best to put it inside a stethoscope case. Bjorn Hall has these Stylish and Ergonomic Stethoscope Cases, made of leather and magnets.
For the weight of the stethoscope, I give it a 1/5 Star.
The price of the MDF Classic Cardiology Rose Gold Stethoscope is 125 USD and if you compare that to other Cardiology stethoscopes, personally, I think that that is a great value for money.
I give the price a 5/5 Stars.
Before I continue, you might wonder
Well, I have bought a lot of stethoscopes for all my Stethoscope Reviews but they are not at home collecting dust. I do run monthly giveaways, so if you're interested and would like to join, check out my website for the free monthly giveaways.
Let's continue!
The MDF Classic Cardiology Rose Gold Stethoscope is 75 cm or 29 in long. For me, that is a perfect length. I am not bending my back too much and it is not too long that it is flapping around while I am using it.
I like the length if this stethoscope so I gave it a 5/5 Stars.
The tubing of the MDF Classic Cardiology Rose Gold Stethoscope is a little sticky and it sticks to my skin and snags the little hairs on my neck. I have reviewed a lot of stethoscopes already and I know that there are better stethoscope tubes out there. The tubing is also a little stiff so you cannot just wrap it around and put it in your pocket. This is probably due to the dual-lumen tubing, so you do have to carry it or hang it on you.
For the tubing feel, I gave it a 2.5/5 Stars,
Of all the choices to choose from, I chose the Black colored tubing paired with the Rose Gold chestpiece and binaurals. I really love the combination and looks really pretty and classy for me.
The chestpiece is turnable and it boasts a new patented feature which is called the Glide Lock System. What you have to do is push the chestpiece before turning it and it’s a really cool feature.
The diaphragm is removable. It is a screw-on and off, as well as the bell. The bell is not convertible to a pediatric diaphragm but since it can be screwed off, I assume there is a pediatric replacement for it that you can buy. Personally, I don’t like screw-on and off diaphragms because they tend to fall off when they start to unscrew on their own.
The ear tips can be removed by pulling it off. You do have to pull with a little force so you don’t have to worry about it falling off.
Considering all the stethoscope design, I have given it a 3.5/5 Stars.
In the spare kit of the MDF Classic Cardiology Rose Gold Stethoscope, you will receive an extra pair of small ear tips, extra pair of large ear tips, a spare diaphragm, and a name tag.
It has pretty good inclusions and I like the fact that it gives you three sizes to choose from.
I give it a 3.5/5 Stars.
MDF Classic Cardiology Rose Gold Stethoscope has a lifetime warranty and offers free parts for life. That means if you lose some of its parts, you can just get parts from them via their website.
That is way cool for me
Instant 5/5 Stars.
The MDF Classic Cardiology Rose Gold Stethoscope comes in a white cardboard box. It has a stethoscope design in the front, but it is not the stethoscope that I had ordered. At the top of the box, it indicates the correct color of my stethoscope and at the back it lists the different features of the stethoscope.
When you open the box, the stethoscope is displayed on a white cardboard case, almost like an egg carton, and there is a slot for the stethoscope and the spare kit and the user manual is just put on top of it. It doesn’t make a big difference, but it’s just a little disappointing.
The buying experience does not affect the performance of the stethoscope in any way, but for the sake of a detailed review, I include it so you would also know what to expect when you receive yours.
For the whole buying experience, I give it a 3.5/5 Stars.
To recap:
Acoustics: 5/5 Stars
Ear Tip Comfort: 4/5 Stars
Weight: 1/5 Stars
Price: 5/5 Stars
Tubing Length: 5/5 Stars
Tubing Feel: 2.5/5 Stars
Stethoscope Design: 3.5/5 Stars
Spare Kit: 3.5/5 Stars
Warranty: 5/5 Stars
Buying Experience: 3.5/5 Stars
What I loved about the MDF Classic Cardiology Rose Gold Stethoscope is that it has great acoustics, the fact that you can choose the size of the ear tips that fit you and It has a lifetime warranty and free parts for life. I also really like the fact that it has a reasonable price and a good value for money and the design aesthetics is really pleasing to the eye.
What lets it down is the weight, because it is the heaviest stethoscope I had ever reviewed and I am really not a fan of the rigidness of the tube. The bell is not convertible to a pediatric diaphragm and the chest pieces are screw-on and off, so those took negative points for me.
If you want to see how the MDF Classic Cardiology Rose Gold Stethoscope stands against the Littmann Cardiology Stethoscope, check out the review I made, MDF Classic Cardiology Stethoscope vs Littmann Cardiology IV Stethoscope where I laid them out side by side.
If you have any questions regarding the MDF Classic Cardiology or you have a suggestion on which stethoscope I should review next, please drop them down in the comments below! I would love to hear from you. You can also join us with the nursing talk with all the other nurses by joining the Nurse Jenny facebook page. Hope to see you around!
May you have a peaceful shift and remember, as always, listen with your heart.

Hello everyone, Nurse Jenny here!
Today I will have a short review on one of the MDS instruments and it is the MDF Rose Gold MD One Stethoscope.
One thing I can say about it is that it is one beautiful stethoscope. I love the Rose Gold color on it! I use it every day for work and every single day it catches somebody’s eyes.
They’d go “Is that Rose gold? Where did you get that??”
It is so lovely, it feels like you are wearing a piece of jewelry around your neck. And I am sorry because I know that Nursing for men is harder as it is, and I hope you can also have a beautiful macho stethoscope you can pair with your scrubs, but for now, we ladies are going to enjoy this one.
The only thing about it is that you have to be careful when using it with dark-colored scrub suits. Once I wore my new blue scrub suit and it got on a little blue-colored mark near the binaural which I can’t get off, so that’s one thing you should keep in mind.
So what happens when you soil your beautiful stethoscope? Don’t worry here is a quick article on how to take care of your stethoscope.
For your relationship with your MDF Rose Gold MD One Stethoscope to work out, I highly suggest that you keep it inside a nice stethoscope case when not in use. Don’t just let it hang around or drop it inside your bag. Care for it as you would with a Diamond necklace!
Bjorn Hall has beautifully crafted stethoscope cases that you could pair with this pretty stethoscope. These cases soft inner liner that safely protects your stethoscope from damage. Each leather case has a spacious interior and two strong, hidden magnets for a designer look that provides easy closure and access.
I have made a complete review of the MDF 777 Stethoscope as well, it’s Acoustics, Tube Feel, Spare Kits, and everything. It got 31.5/50 Stars from my detailed review. Check it out:
If you have any questions regarding this stethoscope or have any requests to review another stethoscope, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below. I would love to hear from you!
Have a good shift, and always remember, listen with your heart.

]]>Welcome back to my blog! Have you ever had your stethoscope wrapped and stored inside your bag and had completely forgotten about it? It’s annoying to have a kinked stethoscope and more annoying to find out that it won’t come back to its original shape. Have you ever wondered how to make your stethoscope straight again? Well, for our blog today, I will teach you how to do exactly this.
Basin
Water
Kettle
Kinked Stethoscope
Towel
Gather your equipment and make sure that your basin can hold hot water.
Boil water.
Transfer your boiled water to your basin.
Submerge your stethoscope tube. DO NOT submerge the diaphragm or the binaurals.
Wait for at least 30 seconds.
Remove from the hot water and wipe dry.
Stretch your stethoscope tube a little.
Your Stethoscope is as good as new!
Be sure that no water will enter your diaphragm and binaurals and be careful of the hot water!
Watch here how I straightened my stethoscope tubing:
That’s all for today. I hope that your funky shaped stethoscope will look as good as new after this trick. Why not try and thoroughly clean your stethoscope while you’re at it. Check out my tutorial on How to Clean Your Stethoscope in Detail: Littmann Stethoscope.

As promised, Safety Sally has landed and she can't wait to tell you all about the safety requirements in her facility.
Safety Sally can be a little bit too much at times but she does have a point - safety is very imortant in Nursing.
In one way or another we are all safety officers as we promote safety to ourselves and our patients on a daily basis.
You're probably doing a safety scan of the room and your patient without even thinking about it when you first start your shift, I know I do!
Enjoy!

Today I will be showing you the unboxing of the Bjorn Hall Stethoscope Case. Sometimes I find my Bjorn Hall Stethoscope with little scratches on the diaphragm or stains on the tube and I would love to keep my beloved stethoscope immaculate as I first opened it, hopefully, so I made these cases. I hope that you will love them too!
These super classy cases are made from PU leather for enhanced style and protection. This allows for workplace accidents – such as contact with liquids – to be easily cleaned off the case with just a damp cloth and it won’t damage the material or crack like in leathers. It has a soft inner lining that protects the stethoscope and two strong hidden magnets for easy closure and access.
If you are wondering if your stethoscope will fit inside, YES! it will -- I’ve tried them all. I’ve tried it with Littman Stethoscopes, ADC Adscope Stethoscopes, MDF Stethoscopes, Welch Allyn Stethoscopes, and of course, the Bjorn Hall Stethoscopes. The case is even big enough for your stethoscope and some other little things you need for your shift such as your IDs, watch, and pens

Hej Hej
It's been a massive Nurses Week this past week.
Feeling the love from all corners of the world, us Nurses are truly amazing aren't we? :)
For the whole of Nurses week, I've been running a massive giveaway with 11 prizes!
Now, I played sport on the weekend and ended up trying to catch the ball with my face (doesn't work, don't try it) and as a result got a lovely shiner!
Of course I couldn't let this deter me from making my winner announcement video. But be warned, I look a little bit worse for wear.
I am however, completely fine and it looks way worse than it is.
Sincerely
Nurse Jenny

]]>Welcome back to my blog.
If it’s your first time here, thank you for visiting and I hope to give you some wonderful insights into the life of nurses. You can also follow Nurse Jenny Facebook Group where we vent, make fun of, and talk about all things nursing.
Today in our blog, we will be talking about the Male Nurses.
More and more men are becoming Nurses nowadays! Historically, nursing has not always been a predominantly female profession. Men mostly made up the numbers of what it was in the time before Florence Nightingale. Before she was considered as the “First Nurse in the World”, sick people go to churches and they were taken care of nuns, monks, and the military.
Nowadays, though there are already a lot of male nurses, Nursing is still somewhat wrongly considered a “feminine job”. That’s why I decided to interview my male colleagues and hear straight from them what it feels like to be a male nurse in a female-dominated industry, what they like in Nursing, and what made them decide to become nurses.
My colleagues Todd & Matt, kindly agreed to take part in one of my videos (thanks guys!). It was a fun and enlightening talk over coffee.
Here are some of the questions I asked them:
You can watch our interview here and I hope you enjoy them!:
One of the many reasons I enjoy Nursing so much is the teamwork and the fact that you get to work WITH people. I really like all the people I work with and it's like seeing your friends every day (except you gotta get work done as well).
I had a great chat with Todd & Matt and I'm so grateful that they are my work colleagues and my friends at the same time.
What about you? Do you have any thoughts about male nurses? And if we could hear it from the gentlemen, have you ever been treated differently at work by being a male?
Drop them in the comments below. I would love to hear from you!
Let us all appreciate all the men in Nursing this Nurses week!!
I hope you have a nice shift and remember as always, listen with your heart.

]]>I've been doing a lot of thinking in preparation for Nurses Week which starts this coming Monday on the 6th of May.
It's a week where we celebrate and elevate the Nursing Profession!
But what is it that makes us so great?
Well in my opinion it's a number of things.
The way we don't loose face when most would probably throw up, the way we comfort other people when they're at the lowest of their low, how we always ask "are you warm enough?" and if not, we bring a warm blanket!
I'll even make you a cup of tea if you're nice...
I mean the list can go on and on really and to be honest, we should not just have a week, we should have the whole year as Nurse Year!
Ok getting a little ahead of myself, but in what other profession do you get daily peronal gratification in form of grateful patients thinking you are the bomb just for helping out!
I think it's addictive and part of why so many Nurses stay in the profession even though it can get very tough.
Yes, we are awesome.
But let's not forget that being a Nurse and being a part of other people's lives in so many different ways, is an absolute privilege, and one we should not take for granted.
Watch as I kick off and get ready for the Nurses Week ahead
Here's to all the wonderful Nurses!
I will see you next week on INTERNATIONAL NURSES WEEK!
Sincerely
Nurse Jenny
PS: Congratulations again to Cheyenne for winning the last giveaway and for your kind words!
