What Nurses Shouldn't Say To Their Patients!

I have an "Inside Nurse voice"
It's the voice that immediately replies to a patient, family member, work colleague or a Doctor, but not out loud.
Of course my inside voice can't always come out so then I reword my "inside Nurse Voice" and say something completely fine and totally acceptable.
As Nurses we have really good filters. I mean, we have to! The things we deal with on a dayily basis require a lot of grace and finesse to make sure everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
After all the golden rule is to treat others the way you would like to be treated yourself.
But sometimes, just sometimes! I wish I could let my "inside Nurse voice" out, just to see what happens, stir the pot a little.
For example, I often get patients who've had surgery come back from recovery say, in a panicked voice, "I haven't eaten for 12 hours!!!"
Once, just once, I wish I could reply with "No shit Sherlock! What did you think was going to happen when you had to be fasted for surgery??!! I promise you will not die from starvation on my watch!"
Of course I don't actually say that. I call the kitchen and order a meal and then pray it will arrive before my patient starves.
"Inside voice Ingrid" is her name!
She cuts and dyes her own hair but most importantly, she doesn't have a filter!
