ADC Adscope 608 Series Stethoscope Review

For today’s blog, I am going to be reviewing the ADC Adscope 608 Series Stethoscope. This is version is almost the same with ADC Adscope 603 Series Stethoscope. Let’s find out their differences and similarities.

 The  ADC Adscope 608 design I chose for this review is the Serenity design and in case you've been wondering what it looks like, it looks really nice and cool and it has water drops design on its tube.

Let’s begin with our detailed review!

1. Acoustic

The ADC Adscope 608 has a single lumen tube and the acoustics are okay for me. It’s not as loud and clear as I want it to be but it’s not the worst either. For that, I give it a 3.5/5 Stars.

2. Ear Tip Comfort

When the ADC Adscope 608 Series arrives in a box, the medium-sized ear tips is attached to it. I found out that the medium size hurts my ear and is too small for me. I swapped it for the large-sized ear tips included in the spare kit and it fitted me better. The ear-tips are soft and nice in the ear. It’s comfortable and has a good seal. I give it 4/5 Stars.

3. Weight

The ADC Adscope 608 Series weighs 174g or 6.1oz and it pretty much weighs the same as the Littmann Cardiology IV, and I think that it is way to heavy for a stethoscope. I like putting my stethoscope on my neck and bring it around wherever I go and with this stethoscope, you will feel it sitting on you after a long period of time. For that I gave it a 3/5 Stars. 

4. Price

The price of ADC Adscope 608 Series is 95 USD and I think that it has a pretty good value for money so I gave it a 4/5 Stars.

5. Tubing Length

The ADC Adscope 608 Series is 77cm or 30in long and personally I think it is too long. A long stethoscope tube can rub on the patient, on the beddings or on my arms so it creates extra noise. If you like this kind of length for a stethoscope then this won’t be a problem for you. I gave it 4/5 Stars.

Before I continue, you might wonder

6. Tubing Feel

The ADC Adscope 608 Series tube feel is a little let down for me. The tubes feel a little sticky on my neck and it snags the little hair on the back of my neck. The tubes are a little thin so they are flimsy and less solid in my hand. For the tubing feel, I gave it a 2/5 Stars.

7. Stethoscope Design

The design of the ADC Adscope 608 Series Stethoscope is the same as the other ADC stethoscopes in general. The only difference is that with this particular stethoscope, the pediatric diaphragm can be screwed off and replaced by an open bell.

 The chestpiece is turnable, something I always look for in a stethoscope, and it has a dot indicator to show which side is on. 

The tube design is cool but the tube itself is sticky and flimsy and feels thin to me. It has a reinforced yoke, which is the part of the stethoscope where the tube from the chestpiece and the tubes from the binaurals meet. 

The binaurals are flexible and adjustable and the tension spring is good. The ear tips are soft and comfortable and they can be replaced by pulling it off with some force. 

For its design, I gave it 3.5/5 Stars.

8. Spare Kit

The spare kit of the ADC Adscope 608 Series includes two extra ear tips sized small and large, an open bell, a name tag, and a user manual. It has a pretty good spare kit so I gave it a score of 4/5 Stars.

9. Warranty

The ADC Adscope 608 Series offers a lifetime warranty for all its parts, which is amazing. You do have to register your stethoscope on their website and of course, it has some exclusions.

Nevertheless, I love lifetime warranties so for that I give it a 5/5 Stars.

10. Buying Experience

The ADC Adscope 608 Series comes in a white box with a small window, showing the design of the stethoscope diaphragm inside. When you open the box, everything is simply laid on a plastic enclosure. I have a video for the ADC Adscope 608 Series Unboxing and you can see it fresh out of the box from there. 

The buying experience does not change the functionality of the stethoscope but for the sake of a complete detailed review, I am including it. For my entire buying experience, I give it a 3.5/5 Stars.

What I love about this stethoscope is that it has good acoustics, the ear tips are comfortable in my ears and it has a lifetime warranty. 

What lets it down for me is that its weight is too heavy for my liking, and the tubes are sticky and too thin. I am also not a fan of the screw-on screw-off pediatric diaphragm as they have a tendency to get lost one they screws get lose. 

I recommend this stethoscope to student nurses who want a good stethoscope without paying much. It not that expensive but it is not the cheapest either but has good value for money.
