MDF 777 MD One Stethoscope vs ADC Adscope 608 Stethoscope

Hey hey, Nurse Jenny here!

I hope you've had a Good Friday! (see what I did there?) :)
If you are new to my blog, welcome, welcome!
I invite you to follow Nurse Jenny Facebook Group and join us as we vent, make fun of, and talk about all things nursing.

Today I will be doing a side by side comparison of the MDF 777 MD One Stethoscope vs the ADC Adscope 608 Stethoscope. I will lay down everything for you in a table so by the end of this blog you can have an informed decision on which stethoscope to buy.

Before we begin, I have something to share with you.

I'm sure many of you were as well, at work on this glorious Friday.

Apart from the good pay you get on a public holiday, it wasn’t too bad of a shift. We started the day with a full ward of 40 patients and by the end we had discharged almost half!

When I arrived to work the night shift Nurse told me "guess what Jim in 601 told me last night?" (not his actual name or room).

I said, "what?"

"I went in and asked him if he wanted some Panadol (Paracetamol where I am)"

and he said: "No I don't want any Panadol, I want a fluffy pussycat!"

So they compromised and he had the Panadol.

We had a real good laugh about it as you can imagine. I don't know where he got that from but we don't have any fluffy pussycats on my ward. However, we did have a man bring in a chook in a bag and called in "pet therapy".

Just another day in Nursing really isn't it?

1. Price

I bought the MDF 777 MD One for 99 USD and the ADC Adscope 608 Stethoscope 95 USD. They are in the same price range and other similarities, but they have a lot of differences too. Find out more below.

2. Weight

The two stethoscopes are almost similar in weight. The MDF 777 MD One weighs 190g or 6.7oz while the ADC Adscope 608 weighs 174g or 6.1oz. Personally, I think both stethoscopes are too heavy. I usually put my stethoscope on my neck, so by the end of the shift, I could really feel these two sitting on me.

4. Acoustics

In my detailed review for the stethoscopes, I gave the MDF 777 MD One Stethoscope a 4/5 Stars while I gave the ADC Adscope 608 a 3.5/5 Stars. They both have good acoustics, not the best there is, but not the worst either. The only difference between the two is that the ADC Adscope 608’s acoustic might be affected by the open bell at the back of the diaphragm as it is not as loud as I like.

5. Tubing Length

The length of the MDF 777 MD One is 78cm or 30.7in while the ADC Adscope 608 is 77cm or 30.3in. They are almost similar in length and I think both stethoscopes are a bit too long. If you prefer long stethoscopes then they are perfect for you.

6. Tubing Feel

In my detailed review, both stethoscopes got 2/5 Stars. The MDF 777 MD One got the low score because I think it is too rigid while the ADC Adscope 608 is sticky.

7. Spare Kit

The Spare Kit of the MDF 777 MD One includes 2 Extra Ear Tips ( Small & Large), Extra Diaphragm, Name Tag, User Manua while the ADC Adscope 608 includes 2 Extra Ear Tips ( Small & Large), Open Bell, Name Tag, User Manual. The MDF 777 MD One’s open bell is not convertible to a pediatric diaphragm so you will only get an adult-sized spare diaphragm while the ADC Adscope 608’s diaphragm can be convertible to an open bell or pediatric diaphragm.

8. Warranty

Both stethoscopes offer a lifetime warranty for parts and manufacturing defects.

9. Overall Score

In my personal detailed review, the MDF 777 MD One got a 31.5/50 Stars while the Adscope 608 got 36.5/50 Stars. Both have different strengths and weaknesses. It solely depends on you on what you prefer in a stethoscope. If you want to learn more about them in detail check out their individual reviews here:

They are both very similar in price and match many of the categories that I go through in my detailed reviews. But somehow I feel that they are still quite different. If you're ever stuck on deciding what stethoscope to get don't hesitate to reach out for advice. I've tried most of the major brands and would be happy to help you out! May you have a great Easter and remember as always, listen with your heart.
